Magma Taishi Chapter 3 – Spectacle

When I was going through Angel’s Hill I decided to translated all the parts that said “mama” and “papa” (literally, phonetically, borrowed words) as “mom” and “dad” because it just sounded to unnatural at times when I had it as mama or papa at first. Then in this series I said you know, I’m going to use mama and papa this time. I already regret it though because it still sounds almost babyish to me… (apologies if you use it).

I had fun with the translation twice in this chapter, I’m happy with everything though so I hope no one’s a stickler about it. I’m thinking I’m going to like this series pretty well for exact reasons that I thought maybe it won’t appeal to people who are fans of live-action tokusatsu stuff: as a manga it seems to be going more in a straight story than this cyclic episodic repeating process.

Also I tried asking around just at one or two places before doing this but if anyone knows a place that has translated this series in one of its forms before and knows what they call Magma, tell me. I translated ロケット人 as just rocketonians on almost a 100% whatever whim and I’m ok with it but if there is some standard out there and I’m pissing people off not using it I’d like to know.

  1. Hey bro. Gotta say that you’ve been doing a lot since I last talked with you and have become interested in getting some help if you’re willing to provide it.

I heard along the grape line you were trying to expand your horizons, so I was hoping you could help me out with two mangas I want to work on. They’re both only 1 volume long and are shounen, so they have Furigana that should make it faster for you to work on. If you could send me an email with your answer, that’d be cool.

Keep on doing a great job with the Tezuka stuff by the way, I love reading some of ’em.
