W3 – Volume One Songs

The main character in this manga likes to sing to himself a lot, so I thought I’d introduce the songs he sings here for anyone interested. I know as much about them as you do, unfortunately.

pg. 48- On this page he sings a few songs from commercials. I can’t find the beer one, but here are the other ones:

The “asupara asupara” one:

The ramen one:

pg. 169- Shinichi sings a song.

pg. 171- Shinichi sings another song.

Any chance you guys could do “Yakeppachi no Maria”, or “Alabaster”?
I just want to see one of those (or both) get translated, I dunno… You guys are doing a great job, BTW. Keep it up 🙂

  2. Hey. Alabaster has been scheduled by this group… they’ll get to it this year, I think. I want to do Yakepacchi too, but I just kind of am starting at least likely to get translated and thinking about gradually going up, if anything just because it would be a bummer to spend time on something than have it get picked up later.

Hey btw, thanks for doing Crater. It was interesting to read. Btw, Page 5 of Brunnen’s enigma from Crater vol 3 is corrupted.

Also, there’s something strange about 1 of the characters in Crater. There’s someone called Okuchin(not sure if he’s also Okuno) and he keeps re-appearing as someone different each time round? Weird!

    • Dee says:

And uhm, apparently both the volume version and the individual chapter file contain that corrupted file.

    • Yeah, he’s kind of the golden thread tying most of The Crater together. He’s played by Rock, one of Tezuka’s most popular character actors. I don’t know if it’s said why Okuno is the one to appear over and over again, though…it’s an interesting effect (gives me the impression of someone dreaming different stories each night) but I don’t think it’s ever explained.

Actually, Rock and Okuchin are two different characters. They just look alike as all.

    • Just to clarify, I guess you downloaded the whole volume versions? I’ll look into it.

Anon. is right, Rock and Okuchin are different. Some people say Okuchin actually looks a lot like the protagonist from the Future arch of Phoenix (who happens to be the rival of Rock in that story). This is my blurb from the very first Crater post I did:

“The stories aren’t connected, but many of them use this Crater-only stock main character named Ryuuichi Okuno, a.k.a. Okuchin. Still, it’s not the same Ryuuichi every time the character comes up, he’s more or less treated the way Tezuka uses other people in his star system like Lamp or Rock.”

Er, I actually recognize that last song: my uncles sing it in Chinese on karaoke after a few drinks…
